ROADS

The Board discussed the VDOT status report of June 20, 2011, staff briefing meeting.

The Board accepted report as information.

THE UPPER SHENANDOAH RIVER BASIN WATER SUPPLY PLAN

The Board received a presentation of the Upper Shenandoah River Basin Water Supply Plan. This has been advertised for ordinance approval on August 10th.

The Board authorized placing on July 27, 2011, consent agenda for authorization to hold public hearing on August 10, 2011 for consideration of water supply plan resolution to include drought Ordinance.

WILSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FINANCING UPDATE

The Board discussed financing strategy for Wilson Elementary School.

The Board authorized placing on July 27, 2011, regular agenda for consideration.

AUGUSTA COUNTY FAIR

The Board request for security Funding Sources: Tourism #81020-5603 $1,800 Agr. Development #83050-6007 1,800 $3,600 The Board authorized placing on July 27, 2011, regular agenda for consideration.

CRAIGSVILLE LITTLE LEAGUE

The Board discussed the request for funding to construct ballfield fence in an amount not to exceed $1,947.26.

ROUTE 262-CITY/COUNTY BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENT

The Board discussed citizen’s request for boundary line adjustment.

FISHERSVILLE LIBRARY AND BALLFIELD PARKING LOT

The Board discussed costs associated with realignment of traffic.

MATTERS TO BE PRESENTED BY THE BOARD – NONE

MATTERS TO BE PRESENTED BY STAFF

Staff discussed the following:

1. Military-Employee Bonus – County Administrator indicated that the two county employees currently on military leave will be receiving bonus.

2. PLYFC – monthly report distributed to Board. It was the consensus of the Board that in the future to send out reports electronically to those who were interested.

Supervisors Coleman, Sorrells, Shifflett and Beyeler expressed interest in receiving reports.

3. Traffic-Speed studies – County Administrator and Director of Community Development proposed allowing Sheriff’s Department and Community Development to perform “basic” speed studies. Proposed fee: $100 The Board authorized placing on July 27, 2011, regular agenda for consideration.

* * * 4. IDA name change – Proposed name change to Economic Development Authority.

The Board authorized placing on July 27, 2011, regular agenda to authorize advertisement for ordinance change.

* * * 5. Stuarts Draft Ballfield – Mr. Beyeler proposed zoning change from Agriculture to Business (single parcel for residential).

The Board authorized placing on July 27, 2011, regular agenda for consideration for referral to Planning Commission.

* * * 6. Virginia Retirement System article distributed to Board.

7. Sweet Dreams – County Administrator commended Sweet Dreams Committee and Staff for excellent event on Saturday.

8. Augusta County Fair – Director of Community Development distributed volunteer shirts and expressed appreciation for agreeing to man the Welcome Booth.

9. Ordinance Committee – Director of Community Development circulated “Miscellaneous Changes to Zoning Ordinance” as recommended by Committee.
