ROADS
The Board discussed the VDOT status report of March 22, 2010, staff briefing meeting.
The Board accepted report as information.
* * * The Board discussed the Secondary Roads Six-Year Plan revisions.
The Board authorized placing on April 28, 2010, regular agenda for consideration.
VERONA COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY
The Board received a presentation by Verona Community Food Pantry of Annual Report.
The Board accepted report as information.
PLANNING COMMISSION ITEMS
1. ROBERT C. MEADE. – REZONING
The Board discussed a request to rezone from Single Family Residential to General Business with proffers approximately 5.6 acres and to add proffers to approximately 2.4 acres already zoned General Business owned by Robert C.
Meade located on the northeast side of Dunsmore Road (Route 818) just north of the intersection with Laurel Hill Road (Route 612) in Verona (Beverley Manor District). The Planning Commission recommends denial.
2. RICKY L. CAMPBELL – PUBLIC USE OVERLAY
The Board discussed a request to add the Public Use Overlay Designation with proffers to approximately 3 acres owned by Ricky L. Campbell and located on the south side of Swartzel Shop Road (Route 694) approximately 0.1 of a mile east of the intersection with Lee Jackson Highway (Route 11) (Riverheads District).
The Planning Commission recommends approval with proffers.
The Board authorized placing on the April 28, 2010, public hearing agenda for consideration.
MATTERS TO BE PRESENTED BY THE BOARD
Board discussed the following:
Mr. Pyles: Deerfield Community Center – Potential for sublease to bring 40 jobs into Deerfield community. Will need to work with Dennis Burnett and Mike Nickell to determine scope of improvements necessary to accommodate sub-lessor. Potential use of Pastures infrastructure funding.
Mr. Beyeler: Mill Place Commerce Park – Need to have VDOT look at road repairs for section of road into Mill Place.
Mr. Coleman: Parks and Recreation Matching Grants: As liaison to Parks and Recreation Committee; brought forward Weyers Cave Recreation Association, Inc. grant request.
It was the consensus of the Board to place on the April 28, 2010, regular agenda for consideration.
MATTERS TO BE PRESENTED BY STAFF
Staff discussed the following:
1. DSS Annual Report distributed to Board 2. Afton TIC – Provided staff report on siting of temporary TIC; indicated Waynesboro coordinating project within budget: Reserve: $13,409; Augusta County: $13,334; Waynesboro: $26,666 = $53,409. Last remaining item is running of electrical cable (lateral vs. an easement).
3. Greenville – Notified Board that Supervisor Sorrells is chairing a community meeting with property owners to hopefully resolve traffic issues.
4. Rockbridge ECC – Notified Board that a solution to Rockingham/Augusta radio frequencies have been identified and respective staffs working cooperatively to resolve.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no other business to come before the Board, Mr. Shifflett moved, seconded by Mr. Coleman, the Board adjourned subject to call of the Chairman.
Vote was as follows: Yeas: Sorrells, Garber, Beyeler, Shifflett, Pyles and Coleman Nays: None
Absent: Howdyshell
