VDOT ROADS

The Board discussed the VDOT status report of September 22, 2014, staff briefing meeting.

The Board accepted the report as information.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

1. The Board discussed the Economic Development monthly report of September 22, 2014, staff briefing meeting.

The Board accepted the monthly report as information.

2. The Board discussed Mill Place Storm Management BMP#3.

The Board authorized placing on the October 22, 2014, regular agenda for consideration.

3. The Board received a presentation on re-allocation of $10,000 Tourism Funds.

The Board authorized placing on the October 22, 2014, regular agenda for consideration.

FIRE AND RESCUE

1. The Board discussed the Fire and Rescue monthly report of September 22, 2014, staff briefing meeting.

2. The Board discussed Ebola Report.

3. The Board discussed Fire Positions Grant.

The Board accepted the all three items as information.

2015 PROPOSED HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

The Board discussed the 2015 Proposed Holiday Schedule.

The Board authorized placing on the October 22, 2014, consent agenda for consideration.

EXPO PROPERTY

The Board discussed acceptance of Expo property for “open space – recreation” use.

The Board authorized placing on the November 24, 2014 agenda for discussion.

STORMWATER LOCAL ASSISTANCE FUND GRANT APPLICATION

The Board discussed application for public/private grant.

The Board authorized placing on the October 22, 2014, regular agenda for consideration.

MIDDLEBROOK AGRICULTURAL AND FORESTAL DISTRICT

The Board discussed a request to renew the Middlebrook Agricultural and Forestal District.

The proposed district encompasses approximately 3,952 acres of land lying on the southwest side of the intersection of Middlebrook Road (Route 252) and Dutch Hollow Road (Route 726) and as far south as the Rockbridge County line.

The Board authorized placing on the October 22, 2014, public hearing agenda for consideration.

NARROWBANDING – PRESENTATION

The Board received a presentation by staff on narrowbanding.

The Board accepted presentation as information

QUARTERLY FINANCE REPORT

The Board discussed Quarterly Finance Report.

The Board accepted report as information.

WAIVERS/ VARIANCES – NONE

Mr. Shull: Panhandling/Literature Permit fee?

Mr. Pyles:

1. EDA appointment to be made Wednesday night.

2. Inquired if Dominion had responded to “Resolution” regarding pipeline.

Mr. Karaffa: Ordinance Committee recommendations:

A) Barking Dogs B) Accessory Buildings Mr. Moore: Ordinance Committee recommendation concerning Chickens.

The Board authorized placing on the October 22, 2014, regular agenda for consideration of advertising for public hearings.

Chairman Wills: Staunton News Leader – attempting to schedule a meeting to discuss Board’s historical support for schools.
